Literature Text

When you wake up, you feel that you are lying on the ground. The earth below you is a bit different, though, than what you're used to. A bit dry, and. . . sandy.

You try to push up and stand--and you immediately realize that you cannot move your body. But your head can still move. You attempt to break free again, but it doesn't work.

You're stuck.

You continue to thrash your head about, but something keeps forcing you down. You grunt, frustrated at yourself for the mess you've gotten yourself into.

What a stupid life.

"Hi, there!"

You look up to see a young brown-haired woman with her hair tied back in a ponytail, wearing glasses, running towards you. Her face is wearing an over-enthusiastic grin.

This is not going to be easy.

"Well, well, haha! Aren't you a pretty one? I don't believe it! Sorry that Levi and I had to gouge out your eyes for a while, though! That must have hurt, considering how loud you were screaming."

Your pupils go from black circles to long slits. So she's responsible for the miserable state you're in.

You bare your teeth angrily, but she ignores you. "The speed you ran with, the grace--omigosh, omigosh! A female titan that came to us straight from the outside! And she's ours to be adored. . . this is BRILLIANT!"

Wow, you're such a creep, lady. Go bug someone else.

"Anyways, I'm Hange!" She lays a hand on your nose. "I look forward to our experiments together."

What are "experiments"?

"Major Hange!" Your ears perk up at the voice. The woman turns around to face the voice, affecting her position, making way for your vision. Your eyes catch Armin running towards you for a split second before you feel that boy's hand running along your cheek.

You look down at him, and he looks you in the eye; thankfully, you don't have to incline your head so much, considering your lying on your stomach and tied into the ground.

"A-are you OK?" he asks. "Sorry if it was painful. . . I, I didn't know that was going to happen, honest! How Commander Erwin gets all this ready so fast, I have no idea. . ." He drops to his knees. "Look, I. . . I know we're off to a bad start but. . . a-anyway, are your eyes all right?"

My eyes are fine now, thank you very much. He's so well-mannered. Or maybe he's too timid to be rude, unlike his friend.

"Armin, get away from it! What the hell are you doing?!"

From the distance, you see Eren running up to Armin. You grind your teeth again.

"Armin, you know this isn't OK! Get away from her!" Eren pulls Armin to his feet.

"But, Eren--! You don't understand!" Armin turns from Eren to face you again. "I might just owe her my life. . ."

You blink to acknowledge his gratitude. You're just about to growl and scare Eren when you catch Hange jumping around.

"Alright, communication tests first!" she cries, absolutely bursting with energy. You eye her curiously.

She turns to you, and speaks directly to you, talking a bit more slowly. "Hello. How's the weather today?"

Does she have to ask you that question? Can't she see for herself?

You look up, regardless. You immediately take notice of how the clouds are somewhat obscuring the sun. You look back down at Hange and blink. It's not like you can say something to her.

Hange seems to notice that, too. "Whoops, sorry! I guess the question was too broad! Let me ask a yes-or-no question!" She thinks over it before saying, "Did you save Armin?"

You nod slowly at this, as much as the binds would allow. Instantly, the eccentric woman squeals with joy.

"She understands me! She understands me!" Then, without warning, she pushes Eren and Armin towards you. "Go on, boys! Ask her something!"

They glance at each other, uncertain. The dark-haired one opens his mouth first. "Do you come from the forest?"

You nod again.

It's Armin's turn. "Did you. . . well. . ." He's hesitant, but he continues his question. "Did you save me because. . . you hated the other titans?"

You snort and shake your head at this. You don't exactly hate the titans themselves. You just can't believe that all the ones you've run into so far are of less wisdom than you. Why, if you happen to run into an intelligent titan, you'd totally kick off with him or her.

Armin frowns in confusion, or so it seems. You are quite annoyed by this. It wasn't like all titans had joined sides. You just screwed up today.

Hange ignores all this and bounds around, gasping with delight. "Oh, I can't believe it! You're such an intelligent titan!"

Thanks for acknowledging that, creepy lady.

"We tried to cut through your neck, but we couldn't get through that hard crystal. But considering you've lasted this long, you're probably not a shifter."

What do you mean by "shifter"?

"Wait until I give you your name later this afternoon! It's only been a few hours since you've awoken, but things are already looking swell!" With that, Hange skips off.
The majority of you guys wanted the titan to be named after a figure from Greek mythology. I hope goddesses are OK with you all (because I can't really think of anything else). One of you guys suggested naming the titan after an ancient civilization.

A few people complained that I wasn't allowing the readers to insert their own names.

Guys. . . what's the point of a naming ceremony, in that case? As of now, the titan doesn't talk.

Anyway, here are the names we can choose from:
HERA (the ultimate goddess)
DEMETER (goddess of agriculture and harvest)
HESTIA (goddess of fire and hearths)
APHRODITE (goddess of beauty and love)
ARTEMIS (goddess of hunting and the moon)
ATHENA (goddess of war)
HEBE (goddess of youth)
MUSE (goddess of singing)
IRIS (goddess of rainbows)
TETIS (goddess of the sea)

If you guys don't want goddess names, I can think of a few others:
PSYCHE (the mortal that the Cupid falls in love with)
MEDUSA (we should know this)
MEDEA (an evil sorceress)
KIRCE (aunt of aforementioned sorceress)
EURYDICE (the dead nymph wife of Orpheus, search it up)
AMAZON (a female warrior tribe of great skill)

Theses are all the names I can think of, as of now. If you want to suggest other notable names from Greek mythology, and if you think it'll fit the titan, let me know!

Do NOT base the titan's name off of what we know of her so far. Think of the powers that she might end up developing later on, making the story more interesting! Keep in mind that this story is review-driven, so please consider the names carefully before choosing!

By the way, this is a non-canon event of occurrence that takes place a few days after the Female Titan Arc.
